Stacey Cano 1995-2011

We here at the Luther College Upward Bound program are in deep mourning.

One of our current students passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2011 at her home. She was 15.

Stacey Cano was born on August 10, 1995 to Amado Cano and Monica Espiricueta in McAllen, TX. At the age of eight, Stacey became a student of the New Hampton School District. During her academic career she was active in basketball, dance, cheerleading, track and chorus. Stacey’s passions were dancing and singing. She loved spending time with her brother and sister.

Stacey was a bubbly, lively girl with a beautiful smile. Over last summer, she and her antics with her best friend from UB frequently got me chuckling. She seemed upbeat and joyful about life.

Stacey is survived by her father Amado Cano of Florence, AL; her mother Monica Espiricueta of Mexico; her guardian grandparents, John and Rita Geerts of North Washington; her brothers, Junior Lopez of Ackley, IA, Jesse Bluhm of North Washington; her sister, Brittney Bluhm of North Washington; her grandparents, Consuelo and Francisco Reyna; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins and classmates.

She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, little one.
